Sorana Kirstea and Croatia’s Donna Vekic were defeated by sixth-seeded Demi Schuurs (Netherlands) / Luisa Stefani (Brazil) 6-2, 6-4 after one hour and 12 minutes.
Monica Niculescu and Belgium’s Grete Minnen were beaten by Americans Caroline Dolheide / Desiree Krawczyk, 6-3, 5-7, 11-9, after one hour and 47 minutes.
In the super tiebreak, Niculescu and his partner were leading 3-0 and 8-7, but eventually gave up the argument, News.ro reports.
