Porsche 911: a safety issue

Despite its long career, the German firm is not immune to some technical failures that can trigger recall campaigns: in the United States, Porsche has recalled more than 8,000 copies of the eighth generation 911for security issue.
The German manufacturer was able to notice that glue used to attach the windshield and rear glass these vehicles were not applied properly at the factory: in fact, it appears that some 911s produced between 2019 and 2023 did not have a perfectly clean surface when this adhesive was applied. Due to the presence of residues, the effectiveness of the glue decreases.
In fact, Porsche discovered this problem last November: an investigation was able to highlight this problem, which causes the glass surfaces of the car to separate, especially in the event of an accident. However, Porsche has not recorded any specific cases of the windshield or rear glass breaking off, nor any accidents or injuries related to this problem. cases aerodynamic noise or water penetration however, approximately fifteen customers reported warranty support.

About 8,100 copies at time of recall

Affected models of the eighth generation of Porsche 911, manufactured from July 8, 2019 to October 30, 2023 : approximately 8100 copies affected in the United States, or about 10% of production during this period. The German manufacturer did not specify whether the problem also affects units sold in Europe or the rest of the world. Porsche will notify affected owners of the issue by the end of April 2024, and they will be advised to contact their Porsche dealer for support.
For all affected vehicles, Porsche dealers will remove the glass surfaces, check them and replace them if necessary. Of course, these repairs will be made without any fees to pay for owners of affected 911s.
