A utility vehicle from Tesla? There is already one, the Tesla Semi, a 100% electric truck with a range of 800 km and sold in the United States.
In France, the manufacturer has just released its first SUV, but don’t expect a competitor to the electric Peugeot Boxer and other electronic Opel Vivaros.
The first SUV from Tesla
In fact, it is a Tesla Model Y with only two seats, adapted to the needs of professionals. Although this idea may seem far-fetched at first glance, it is not. Tesla France indeed offers a rather special example of the Tesla Model Y, its successful 100% electric SUV, specially designed for professional customers.
The car has kept the same design, but the changes are really noticeable inside. Designed to meet business needs, this Tesla Model Y transforms into a practical and functional SUV. The rear seat was removed to make room for absolutely flat cargo surface. A partition is installed behind the front seats for better organization of space. This model claims capacity 2158 liters, compared to 2,041 for the five-seater version with the multi-seater folded. But the interest, apart from the huge treasury, is obviously a tax, even if we are still a little short on details as of this writing.
Tesla Model Y surprise car: No bonuses, but big tax breaks
To introduce this new product to interested potential customers, a national test tour is organized in several French cities. From Strasbourg to Lyon, via Lille, Paris, Rennes, Nantes, Bordeaux, Toulouse and Aix-en-Provence, the Tesla Model Y SUV will be available for testing at Tesla stores. A strategy aimed at meeting directly with VSE/SME, ETI and fleet managers to meet their specific needs.
Although the Tesla Model Y SUV will be sold at “Higher cost than the standard version with multiple seats”, it enables businesses to claim back VAT on purchaseswhich can represent a fairly significant financial advantage.
The fact remains: legal entities still cannot take advantage of the 3,000 euro environmental bonus for the purchase of this transformed car.
