Rafael Nadal does not feel ready to play in Indian Wells 2024

Returning from a year out, Rafa was injured again in Brisbane and says he is still not ready to play at a high level.

“It is with deep sadness that I have to withdraw from this incredible tournament. Everyone knows how much I love to play here in Indian Wells. That’s one of the reasons why I came here very early to train and try to prepare.

I worked a lot. As you know, I took a test this weekend, but I don’t feel ready to play at the highest level in a tournament like this. It’s not an easy decision, it’s actually very difficult, but I can’t lie either to myself or to thousands of fans.” – Rafael Nadal in social networks.

Nadal (37 years old) was replaced by Indian Sumit Nagal in the main draw of Indian Wells 2024.

Organizers of the California desert event, which announced the timings of Nadal and Raonic a few days ago, said they would refund fans who bought tickets for Thursday’s evening session on Center Court.
