Do you know Polestar? Most likely, yes, but you’ve never seen one like this on the roads. And that’s normal.
Dispute between Polestar and Citroën
And for good reason, the Sino-Swedish manufacturer, which is part of the Geely group like Volvo, Lotus and Lynk & Co, is not yet sold in France. But what is the reason? In fact, Citroën blocked the introduction of the Polestar in France due to the similarity between the logos of the two brands. The stylized Polestar logo, which represents the North Star, was considered too similar to Citroën’s chevrons. In 2020, French justice decided in favor Citroën, which prohibits Polestar from using its logo in France and results in exclusion from the French market. After years of conflict between the two manufacturers, an agreement was finally reached. The complaints have been withdrawn and the Polestar site, previously inaccessible from France, is now freely accessible. But when will we finally be able to see cars from the company on our roads? Well, it might happen very soon, and that’s good news for anyone who wants to buy one!
Polestar will arrive in 2025
And it is not for nothing that Polestar will officially arrive in France planned for 2025, or next year. Dealerships will be established in the city and maintenance can be carried out within the existing Volvo network. In particular, the three-color range will feature the Polestar 2, an electric sedan that competes with the Tesla Model 3, the Polestar 3, a large SUV based on the Volvo EX90 platform, and Polar star 4, which has the shape of an SUV with a dynamic profile. Other novelties, such as the Polestar 5 sedan, will appear a little later. But we’ll still have to be patient before we see them hitting dealerships. The Swedish manufacturer hopes to attract customers from premium German brands, including Porsche, Audi and BMW. However, in the Geely Polestar group, it will have to coexist with Lotus, whose positioning is not fundamentally different. Suffice to say, the manufacturer will have a lot to do and find ways to succeed in an increasingly competitive market.
Thus, Polestar’s arrival in France marks a decisive turning point for this brand that seeks to conquer the electric market.
