
Goalkeeper of the Lithuanian national football team, Edvinas Hertmonas, has signed a contract with the University of Cluj, reports the SuperLiga group.

U Cluj writes that Gertmonas started his career as a professional player in Taurus, and in 2015 he was transferred by the French team Stade Rennais from Atlantas. He did not play for the first team of Stade Rennes, but played for the second team of the French national team in 48 games.
In 2019, the Lithuanian goalkeeper returned to his homeland to Zalgiris Vilnius, where he spent the best period of his career. He won three championship titles in 2020, 2021 and 2022. In addition to three championships, the goalkeeper won the Lithuanian Cup in 2022, and in 2020 and 2023 he won the Lithuanian Super Cup.
In the 2022/2023 season, the goalkeeper played in the European Cup groups for the first time. His team played in the UEFA Europa Conference League groups, with Edvinas Gertmonas starting all six matches.
In total, Gertmonas played 116 matches for Vilnius Zalgiris, in 53 of which he did not miss.
Gertmonas made his debut for the Lithuanian national team on 8 June 2015 at the age of 19 in a friendly match against Malta.
In the last selection for the European Championship in Germany, he played five matches.
Cluj need a win in the final leg of the regular season (against FC Voluntari) to qualify for the Superliga playoffs.
