Striker Domenico Berardi suffered a serious injury in Sassuolo’s loss to Verona on Sunday and will miss Italy’s Euro 2024 finals in Germany.

“The examination showed that Domenico Berardi is suffering from a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon in his right leg,” Sassuolo explained in a statement.
Berardi (28 appearances, 8 goals) will undergo surgery on Tuesday, the club said, without giving details on the length of his absence.
The striker, a member of Italy’s 2021 European Championship squad, was injured during the game his team lost in Verona on Sunday (0-1).
In his first game since missing a month and a half with a knee injury, he left the field in tears in the 60th minute after collapsing while handling the ball.
The 29-year-old Berardi was one of the main players of the Azzurri coach in an ineffective offensive unit.
He scored twice in a 4-0 win against Malta in mid-October in a EURO 2024 qualifier, according to Agerpres.
La Nacional, coached by Spalletti since August, will face Albania, Spain and Croatia in Group B at EURO 2024.
