a new measure
Low Emission Zones (ZFE) are at the heart of environmental problems in France. The latter are theoretically aimed at improving air quality in large cities by restricting the movement of the most polluting vehicles. But what about collector cars full of history and emotion for their passionate owners? Well, the government is reportedly considering introducing a special initiative sticker French Federation of Vintage Cars (FFVE). Here’s what Jean-Louis Blanc, its president, explains: “It’s progressing quickly, we have the approval of the Ministry of Transport and we’re also working with a national printing company to develop this sticker. There is no decree on this topic yet, but we are working on making this sticker work. I think we’ll get there this summer.” The classic vehicle sticker will cost €3.77, the same as the classic Crit’Air sticker. Jean-Louis Blanc, however, assures that it will clearly stand out from the rest.
WARNING! Since 2015 and the appearance of Crit’Air stickers, traffic restrictions apply to some vehicles in large cities. Shall we summarize together? 🚙 #MyProjectMoreResponsible

Not everywhere
Only manufactured cars or registered more than 30 years ago, and kept in their original state, will match this label. Get out of the current production cars! In addition, each urban area will have the freedom to decide on the application of this measure in its ZFE. The aim remains to improve air quality while preserving the automotive heritage. Discussions between FFVE and major metros are progressing well. Paris, Nice, Lyon, Strasbourg and other cities have confirmed or are in the process of checking this exemption for classic cars. As for “young timers” (cars under 30 years old), their status remains unclear, but FFVE continues to work in this direction. Jean-Louis Blanc explains that “for every 1,500 cars in circulation, there is one collector car. Its contribution to pollution is insignificant and cannot be measured. » “Vehicles with collector registration documents are heritage objects that (…) must be preserved.”
