Among the military complexes sent by Paris to Kyiv are 6 Mistral air defense systems, two Crotale air defense systems and one SAMP-T. In addition to them, Ukraine also received from France:

How France chose weapons to send to Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense of France clarified that arms deliveries to Kyiv must meet 3 criteria:

  • ensure the “full capability” of the Ukrainian armed forces, i.e. provide them with the necessary ammunition, training and maintenance;
  • not to weaken the armed forces of France;
  • not to escalate the conflict.

The Paris defense ministry released the information a week after President Emmanuel Macron said he could not rule out the idea of sending Western troops to Ukraine, although French diplomacy later toned down his remarks because they caused consternation among NATO. partners

Macron made such a comment after the Paris summit of European leaders, when he also criticized allies who, before the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, offered Kyiv “only helmets and sleeping bags.”

International news agencies write that these words of his “were not well received” in Berlin, because after the helmet episode, Germany became the second largest supplier of military equipment to Ukraine, second only to the USA.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius denied sending German troops to Ukraine just a day after Emmanuel Macron’s comments.
