A 27-year-old man from Drobeta-Turnu-Severin, known as a drug user and accused of murdering his mother, was on the loose, according to prosecutors who detained him for 24 hours.

A 54-year-old woman from Drobeta-Turnu-Severin was killed in her apartment, and the main suspect is her son, known as a drug user.

The 27-year-old is unemployed, and his relatives say he has been using drugs since he was a teenager. After his parents divorced, he stayed with his mother, who owned a wedding dress shop in Drobeta-Turnu-Severin. The two allegedly often argued over money, and the same thing happened on Friday night, according to stirilorprotv.ro.

After allegedly killing his mother, the man went to a nearby village to his father and brother, told them what he had done, and they called 112, according to stirilorprotv.ro.

“The agitated patient was discovered when they and the police went up to the house. They found the mother of an excited person dead. Death came much earlier than the time for the intervention of the crew and the doctor to perform resuscitation,” said doctor Eleodor Mihuts from the Mehedinci County Emergency Service.

“Against the background of drug use and in a state of abstinence, he committed acts of violence against his mother,” prosecutor Gheorghe Čokan said, as quoted by stirileprotv.ro.

Molodyk was detained for 24 hours for murder.
