
New feature of Google Maps
Google maps is an essential application for everyday life, especially in the car, when it comes to finding an address or route: it has become a reliable and practical alternative to traditional GPS navigation tools.
For nearly 20 years, the Google Maps team has regularly improved the functionality of their app, and this one is new “Quick overview of the route” (Overview directions) allows you to quickly view your route directly on the smartphone screen, without even unlocking it.
In practice, when you search for a route on Google Maps, without necessarily starting navigation, you can get turn-by-turn details, directly from the lock screen from your smartphone with information that is updated in real time if, for example, you take a different route. This feature also shows the estimated time of arrival, which is also updated automatically.
How to use directions at a glance?
This “Quick route view” feature is available in the latest version of Google Maps: you just need to update the app on your smartphone to use it. However, this feature is not activated by default for GDPR compliance reasons: in fact, it collects additional data to ensure proper functioning.
To activate ityou must click on your profile photo in the upper right corner of the Google Maps app on Apple iOS, then go to Settings, then Navigation, then activate the Instant Directions option. “eye during navigation”.
Likewise, in the Google Maps app on your Android smartphone, simply click on your profile photo in the top right, then go to Settings, then Navigation Settings, then activate the Quick Route View option.
Now, when you search for a new route on Google Maps, you’ll be notified that Quick Drive is enabled.
