“This morning the 112 service asked firefighters from Giurgiu to intervene in the area of ​​the railway near Port Road in the municipality of Giurgiu to secure the area during the intervention to try to recover a car loaded with propane that had derailed. “, ISU spokeswoman Giurgiu Nicoleta Bejanu told Agerpres on Thursday.

She specified that the crew of the Giurgiu detachment with a special fire truck to ensure PSI measures and the crew of the CBRN, which was conducting measurements in case of a propane leak, went to the scene.

“The intervention crews did not detect any leaks, and they are currently working to get the carriage back on the rails,” ISU representative Giurgiu emphasized.

Firefighters intervene to get the derailed train back on track

A crew arrived at the scene with special pumps to lift the carriages as they tried to put the carriage back on the rails with a crane on Wednesday but were unsuccessful. The locomotive and the other four cars were removed from the area, and work is currently underway to return the derailed car to the track.

During the intervention, rail traffic in the area was suspended. Intervention teams provided by the private operator and CFR Marfă managed to get the front of the car back on the rails and are now also working to get the rear of the car back on the rails.
