The US president “continues to be fit for duty and fully assumes all of his duties without any waivers or accommodations,” White House physician Kevin O’Connor said.

In February 2023, Biden’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, concluded that the president was “in good health,” “vigorous” and “fit” to perform his duties. Also then, Biden had a “small” cancerous skin lesion removed.

The Democrat is running for another term, at the end of which, if re-elected, he will be 86 years old. He will almost certainly meet his predecessor, Donald Trump, who also turned 77, in November.

Aside from images of the president stumbling down stairs and slurring his speeches, Joe Biden’s ability to govern for the rest of his second term is raising doubts among the American electorate and undermining his chances for re-election in November.

In early February, a special prosecutor tasked with investigating classified documents in Biden’s possession dropped the charges, arguing, among other things, that jurors would not want to convict an “elderly man with a bad memory.” At the time, Biden’s camp condemned the “gratuitous” and “inappropriate” comments.

In a televised interview on Monday, Biden defended himself, saying he was “more solid than the other guy,” Donald Trump, whom he accused of forgetting his wife Melania’s name.

On Nov. 20, 2023, the day Biden would have turned 81, Trump released a short letter from his doctor in which he said the billionaire was in “excellent” health, had lost a few pounds — without specifying how much — and his cognitive test results “excellent”.
