The three headmistresses of the Goethe German College have again submitted their resignations to the Bucharest Municipal Education Inspectorate (ISMB), after withdrawing their resignations in January following inspections by the Ministry of Education’s Control Authority at the school.

The resignation of three directors, Rodika Ilinka, Maria Lipan-Weber and Beatrice Herbert, was confirmed by ISMB representatives to HotNews.ro.

The decision to re-submit his resignation was made after the supervisory body presented the findings of inspections carried out at Goethe College.

According to the document referred to by educatieprivata.ro, among the suggestions of the Control Body are:

  • disciplinary investigation of a full-time teacher after meditation with students in the classroom;
  • disciplinary investigation of the secretary of the board of directors of the Goethe German College in Bucharest;
  • the application of a measure of disciplinary investigation of the director of the Goethe German College in Bucharest;
  • conducting a general school inspection

Three directors also announced their resignations in January

In a press release sent on January 18, the college staff expressed their “indignation” at the “discretionary and unscrupulous members of the Control Body of the Ministry of Education” who controlled the educational institution.

  • “The undersigned, teachers (Romanian and German) and members of the auxiliary and non-teaching staff of the German Goethe College, we find it necessary to announce the beginning of a protest action, starting on January 18, 2024, through which we express our indignation against the arbitrary and unprincipled members of the Control Body The Ministry of Education, which will supervise our unit from January 15, 2024.
  • The demeaning attitude towards all our colleagues interviewed during the control led to submission of the resignation of three directors of the collegeas a form of protest and a fine against the behavior of those mentioned,” the message reads.

At the time, three directors later recanted their resignations. The reason for the resignations announced today is currently unknown.
