Braila Municipal Police announced on Wednesday that they have filed a complaint and criminal charges over images that appeared online showing a UPU Braila guard tying a man to a bed and a nurse saying the man should was taken “to an insane asylum”, reports News.ro.
“On February 28, police officers from the Braila Municipal Police – Bureau of Criminal Investigation reported on official duties about the commission of a crime of offensive behavior by employees of the hospital in the municipality. Inspections are ongoing to establish precisely all the circumstances under which the event occurred and the actual situation,” IPJ Brăila announced.
The footage, taken Sunday night at the emergency department in Brail, was posted on social media. They show a UPU security guard tying a patient’s hands to a mobile bed, while a nurse says the man should have been admitted as “insane” because the emergency department is not psychiatry. The woman also declares that “she has children at home” and patients should not “let her into the ground”.
The head of the district hospital told www.debrăila.ro that he sent the video to the head doctor of UPU Brăila and asked for an investigation: “I will ask for an investigation, without a doubt. I will speak to the chief physician of UPYU and ask for an investigation. These are employees of the UPU, the investigation is conducted by the UPU, not the district hospital. This is regrettable and unacceptable,” said the head of the Brail district emergency clinical hospital.
