The car is available exclusively online
Last October, GM announced its all-electric return to European markets, launching the first sales in Switzerland. Unlike its American strategy based on a dealer network, GM is taking a different approach in Europe, based on online shopping, allowing customers to set up and confirm their Cadillac purchase in just a few clicks. The stakes are high for the American manufacturer as European automakers race to develop more affordable electric vehicles under pressure from Chinese rivals, but also amid slowing demand. Therefore, GM adopts a completely different strategy that goes against the market trend. The manufacturer, however, is optimistic and believes that it has the perfect product, targeting the most promising market segment in France. The European director of GM recalled this the luxury electric car segment is growing in France. According to her, this is where Cadillac should go to find customers.
Will there be other models?
Nevertheless, it cannot be ruled out that Cadillac will release other models in the near future. We imagine they are targeting the same niche, because really, Cadillac appears intent on winning back customers from established manufacturers in France and Europe. At the moment, the brand has not indicated which model will be released in the near future, preferring to focus on the launch of its Lyriq. Its survival on European soil is based on this model, so missing its launch is out of the question. Among our Swiss neighbors, The starting price of the Lyriq is 82,000 Swiss francs. The price for the French market has not yet been announced, but it should be similar, around 90,000 euros. Note that GM also plans to open a showroom in Paris, and that the Lyriq will be available online from March 23, thus marking the beginning of a new era.
This is not the end of Cadillac’s European expansion. Its luxury electric car is expected to be launched in other European markets, with Germany topping the list later this year.
