Andy, who is 36 years old and suffering from a long period of injuries, is trying to return to the elite of tennis. By that point, a win against Shapovalov had helped the Scot join an exclusive group of players with 500 career wins on hard courts.
Murray’s name now appears alongside Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andre Agassi and Rafael Nadal.
It was Andy’s 500th victory on fast courts, and now the Scot’s fifth all-time.

The Dubai Tennis Championships is an ATP 500 tournament that will be held from February 26 to March 2. The game is played on a hard surface and the total prize pool is $2,941,785. The champion of the title is Daniil Medvedev.
