Public Finance Minister Marcel Bolosh says he continues to support a flat rate of tax “from which we have all benefited”, saying that progressive taxation “makes sense when the population has a certain standard of living” that allows such measures to be implemented. When asked whether the current taxation method will also be valid in 2025, the Minister of Finance replied that it is “premature to say”, the decision in this sense depends on the results of this year’s elections, reports News.ro.

• “You see, there is a doctrinal struggle between the two sides. I said, without contradicting either the Prime Minister or the doctrines of both parties, that progressive taxation makes sense when the population has a certain standard of living that allows progressive taxation. Progressive taxation means taking more money out of people’s pockets – it’s true that people on low incomes get less, people on high incomes get more – but you’re still taking money from this perspective of progressive taxation. The one bet, we’ve all benefited from it, we’ve seen that it has this labor neutrality and, if you will, as a fiscal stimulus and as a way to incentivize labor. However, as I said, the single quota is something we all benefited from and I think we all still want it,” Minister Marcel Bolosh said on Digi 24 on Monday night.

He noted that the National Liberal Party specified that maintaining a single quota is a “red line”.

When asked whether this will also apply to 2025, the Minister of Finance replied: “It depends on the situation, it is premature to say what will happen, and we will see after the elections.”
