The Kremlin qualifies as “absurd” the accusations of pressure by the Russian authorities on the mother of Oleksii Navalny in connection with the funeral of the Russian opponent and claims that President Vladimir Putin was not involved in the decisions regarding the transfer of Navalny’s body to the family, writes Reuters.

Responding on Monday to a question about alleged pressure on Navalny’s mother, Dmytro Peskov said that the Kremlin was not involved.

“I cannot comment in any way, because the Kremlin has nothing to do with this, so the Kremlin cannot put pressure on it. This is another absurd statement by these (Navalny – not) supporters. Almost all of them are wanted (by the Russian authorities) and almost all of them are abroad. Their statements should be treated accordingly,” said the Kremlin spokesman.

Responding to the question of whether the calls of Navalny’s mother and wife to Vladimir Putin contributed to the acceleration of the transfer of the body to the family, Peskov said that the Russian president did not participate in this process: “The head of state does not manage these issues in any way. way. There are certain services for such situations.”

When asked whether Putin had anything to do with the issue of the transfer of bodies, Peskov answered “no”.

Navalny can be buried in Moscow

Also on Monday, the associates of Alexei Navalny said that they are currently looking for a place where supporters of the Russian opponent can say goodbye to him, Reuters reports.

Navalny’s press secretary, Kira Yarmysh, said that it is about organizing an event separate from the funeral until Friday. The funeral is expected to take place in Moscow, but details of the Russian opposition leader’s funeral have not been released at this time.

In a six-minute video posted on YouTube, Navalny accused Putin of holding her husband’s body “hostage” and questioned Putin’s frequent Christian beliefs. In the video, Yulia Navalny stated that Putin is personally responsible for what is happening and that he is “torturing” Navalny even after his death, as he did during his life.

“We already knew that Putin’s faith was false. But now we see it more clearly than ever,” said Navalna, adding that “no true Christian could do what Putin is doing now with the body of Alexei.”

At the end of the video, she calls again: “Give us back my husband’s body. We want to hold a memorial service and bury him humanely, in the ground, as is customary in Orthodox Christianity.”
