On Thursday, the government approved a memorandum on unlocking another 2,000 positions in the health care and social assistance system. Another 7,600 vacancies were unlocked at the beginning of January, but job competitions have not yet been organized.
In a memorandum, the government approved the organization of contests or exams to fill 2,226 vacant or temporarily vacant positions in the field of health care and social assistance in local state institutions.
“We continue to look for solutions to reduce the shortage of medical staff in local authority hospitals. After discussions with trade unions and the Ministry of Health, we have decided to unlock more than 2,000 posts in the field of health and social care. Thus, after the decision we took in January, when we unlocked another 7,600 positions, we can say that this year we aim to attract almost 10,000 new doctors, nurses, nurses and medical staff in public hospitals,” said the Prime Minister Prime Minister Marcel Čolaku on Thursday.
The prime minister added that this would certainly mean better services for patients, “but also less pressure on the current medical staff in hospitals,” News.ro reported.
The memorandum approved on Thursday provides for: 706 doctor positions, 100% of the number of declared positions; 45 positions for other specialized medical workers with higher education (social worker, pharmacist, biologist, biochemist, physicist, physiotherapist, psychologist, engineer, radiology and imaging technician, etc.), respectively 30% of the declared positions, 88; 5 more positions for scientific personnel, i.e. 30% of the total number of positions requested, 7; 746 paramedic positions, 50% of the total demand, 1448.
The same memorandum provides for staffing by competition: 72 positions of other employees with secondary education (medical registrar, medical statistician, etc.), respectively 30% of the total number, 167 positions; 470 positions of auxiliary staff (nurses, porters, nurses, boys, etc.), 30% of the 1445 declared positions; 75 positions for TESA staff, i.e. 30% of the total number of positions requested, 180; 107 positions of workers and service personnel, respectively 30% of the 280 declared positions.
