After the scandalous publication in Qatar, The Geneva Motor Show is returning in 2024and back home, in a Swiss city.

Western brands are avoiding the 2024 release

This year will be very special because it will century of international publishing ! If at the beginning of the year there was no show worthy of the title in Brussels, what can we expect this year in Geneva? There will be nothing to celebrate on this anniversary, as many manufacturers will be absent. Forget generic manufacturers, Volkswagen, Ford or Stellantis group brands (Citroën, Peugeot, Opel, Fiat, Jeep, etc.), they will not make the trip. Ditto for German premium brands (Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW) or high class brands (Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce), are also absent. So what’s left to eat? The Renault Group, which has praised the importance of these major physical events several times in the past, will be present with its Renault, Alpine and Dacia brands. The opportunity to discover the updated versions of Dacia Spring, Jogger and Sanderobut first of all to see the world premiere brand new electric Renault 5 E-Tech, which will replace the Zoé city car from 2025. Alpine is set to unveil the A290 show car, which heralds the next sporty version of the R5.

Chinese brands are in the first ranks

Faced with this general departure of traditional brands, it is brands from China that will stand out. Several of them have confirmed their presence, including MG Motor, which will present the world premiere of its new MG3, a petrol and hybrid city car that will compete with the Renault Clio and Toyota Yaris in Europe at a very competitive starting price! It’s not the only SAIC unit to make the trip, as the Chinese state-owned group will also present its own the new IM brand, the premium is positioned. Four models will be presented: sedans L7 and L6, SUVs LS7 and LS6. Its schedule has not yet been disclosed, but the brand plans to enter the first European markets this year. BYD will also launch its major offensive of brands and models. YangWang, its high-end brand, will introduce the large Defender-looking SUV/4X4 U8. It will also be an opportunity for the Chinese group, which is a hit in Europe, to unveil the first models of its premium Denza division, including the D9 minivan and the N7 SUV. In a sign that Chinese manufacturers have made Europe their new playground, this 2024 Geneva Motor Show will be very “Asian”…
