The mayor of the capital Nikushor Dan says that in the polls he gains more than 30%. “I am running to win, it would be a shame if after these 3 years, because I have paid the debts in which I have taken everything in the right, normal direction, the PSD will come back with what it has done in 12 years,” the mayor said about this year’s local elections.
“Of course there will be single-round elections, I don’t know if they will be in September, but they are polarizing, you have a big party that has always had 30-35%, you have a mayor in office who has more than 30% . And then the struggle becomes polarized (..). This is the beauty of voting in two rounds, in one round people vote pragmatically. Which I really want, and that’s why I don’t like this merging of local and national elections, because there will be overlapping topics and we won’t have a place to present our ideas. People will not have easy access to information about local elections,” Nikushor Dan told Prima News’ Electoral Insider show.
The mayor of the capital stated that we already have a deficit of democracy because of the way the press treats political actors, and coincidences make the message more blurred.
“Absenteeism is also a sign of elections, I don’t think forcing people to vote by force is a sign of democracy,” Nikushor Dan explained.
“I am running to win because it would be a shame if after these three years, because I have paid the debts in which I have taken everything in the right, normal direction, the PSD will come back with what it has done in 12 years”, Nikusor Dan also said.
“I hope that people will be informed, I hope that in the eternal struggle between the right and the PSD, many right-wing voters will vote for me again,” said the mayor.
