The main opponent of Putin, Alexei Navalny – lawyer, public activist (founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation), leader of the “Future of Russia” party and political prisoner – died in the Yamalo-Nenets prison in Western Siberia. It is difficult to determine exactly what happened, but the constant and harsh persecution of Navalny by the Putin regime outlines and suggests a map of leisurely murder. The management of the colony reported that after a morning walk on February 16, Navalny felt ill, lost consciousness and died, and attempts at resuscitation proved futile.
Imprisoned for so-called terrorism and extremism, Navalny is said to be in prison until 2038. In 2020, Navalny was poisoned by Novitsky (FSB agents) and was saved at the last moment, transported and hospitalized in Berlin. Dignity, honor and civic spirit forced him to return to Russia after the poisoning attempt, which Putin perceived as defiance. His documentaries about Putin’s corrupt regime and the vast wealth of the dictator (who is believed to be the richest man in Russia) made Navalny persona non grata doubtless as if he had committed a crime of unworthy majesty. After a period of imprisonment in the Russian capital, Putin punitively exiled him as far as possible from Moscow (to Siberia), fearing that Navalny would be perceived by the West as an alternative to the leadership of Russia. Lawsuits against Oleksiy Navalny were of the neo-Stalin type, especially since the Association for Observance of Human Rights officially declared that Navalny is political prisoner, by no means common law (as the Putin regime tried to present it). The political persecution of Oleksii Navalny began in 2012; since then, there have been various offensive processes, in which he was accused and due to which he was continuously fined, persecuted and detained for 12 years.
Putin’s people killed the liberal politician Boris Nemtsov in 2015 without any doubt. Journalist Anna Politkovska was killed by Putin’s men in 2006. Human rights activist Politkovska was known for her critical stance on Putin’s policy in the wars in Chechnya. In his articles, he sharply and documentedly criticized the abuses of the Russian intervention forces against the civilian population. She was killed near her home on Putin’s birthday on October 7, 2006. In the case of Oleksiy Navalny, it was a slow murder that ended on February 16, 2024.
Navalny came from a Russian-Ukrainian family and was one of the outspoken protesters against the war in Ukraine and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
If they kill me, do not give up the fight for democracy! – this is Navalny’s central message. –
