On Monday, Russia rejected Germany’s request for a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of dissident Alexei Navalny in a Siberian camp, Agerpres reports.
The Russian Embassy in Berlin reported on Telegram that “German representatives were informed that this situation is an exclusively internal problem of the Russian side, which, as already explained, will conduct an appropriate professional investigation in such cases.”
The message appeared after the German Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador, Serhii Nechaev, in connection with the death of Navalny at the age of 47. The Russian embassy said that the diplomat presented “Moscow’s point of view on last Friday’s incident.”
The Russian authorities have not yet handed over the lifeless body to the family and have not made the autopsy report public.
The Russian embassy in Germany also said that the West is using the death of a well-known dissident to incite anti-Russian sentiment.
