Having lost to the Japanese Nao Hibino in the qualifying final, Lucia Bronzetti took advantage of Marta Kostyuk’s withdrawal and entered the main draw as a lucky loser.

In a match with Daria Kasatkina (14 WTA, favorite No. 10), the Italian won her first set on a tie-break.

The player from Russia won in the second act and turned the match into a decisive one.

The third set ended in a draw again, but Bronzetti (60 WTA) qualified for the next round before another tie-break after two hours and 47 minutes of play.

In the second round of WTA Dubai, Lucia Bronzetti will meet Anastasia Potapova (35 WTA).
