
The pair of Monica Niculescu and Magda Lynette were eliminated on Monday in the first round of the doubles of the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai.
The Romanian-Polish team was defeated by the favorites 7 Hao-Ching Chan (Taiwan) and Juliana Olmos (Mexico) with a score of 1-6, 6-2, 10-4.
The match lasted an hour and 20 minutes.
For reaching the first round, Monika and Magda will receive $9,100 and 10 points in the WTA doubles ranking.
Titled doubles champions are Russians Veronika Kudermetova and Lyudmila Samsonova.
The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships runs from February 18 to 24 on hard, is part of the “WTA 1000” category and has a total prize pool of $3,211,715. Simona Halep won the tournament in 2015 and 2020, and the reigning champion is Barbora Krejcikova.
