Director of the Veterinary, Sanitary and Food Safety Authority (DSVSA) of Arad, Marcel Rochu, told Agerpres on Monday that risky cargoes are checked as soon as they enter the country to avoid bringing products from regions where there are outbreaks.

“From this week, together with other government agencies, we are organizing filters on the roads near the border to check both the documents of origin and the conditions of transport. All deliveries of eggs, meat, poultry products and live birds are targeted to avoid the appearance of bird flu in the district,” said Marcel Rosu.

He noted that at the moment there is no ban on the import of these products into the country, with the exception of those coming from areas where there are bird flu outbreaks.

Over the past two months, bird flu has been detected in several provinces of Hungary, from the border with Romania to the border with Austria.
