USR councilors in the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest report that they are submitting a decision of the General Council to rename Tuberozelor Street, where the Russian Consulate is located, to Oleksii Navalny Street.
“This is not just a symbolic gesture. This is a clear message that we support the struggle for freedom, justice and democracy. This is an expression of our solidarity with all those who, like Oleksii Navalny, risk their freedom and even their lives to protect their country from corruption and authoritarianism.” says Vlad Voiculescu, president of USR Bucharest.
“This decision will force Russians to indicate his name in official documents, making it their postal address. The decision requires a majority vote in the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest and the approval of the Prefect,” USR said in a Facebook post announcing the petition launched on the matter.
