​The ATP 250 in Buenos Aires will have a new champion after Carlos Alcaraz unexpectedly lost to Nicolas Jarry in the semifinals.

2023 winner Alcaraz suffered a 7-6(2), 6-3 defeat to the ATP No. 21 Chilean after almost two hours of play.

After losing the first set on a tiebreak, Carlos opened the second set with a break, but lost serve twice and Nicolas qualified for the final act of the competition in Argentina.

• This is Jarry’s first win over Alcaraz since the Iberian won their first two meetings (Rio de Janeiro and Wimbledon, both in 2023).

• In the final, Jarry will beat Facundo Diaz Acosta (87 ATP), who won the Argentine in a match with Federico Coria (106 ATP) with the score 6-2, 6-3.

• This is Nikola’s fourth victory in matches against Top 5 ATP players.

• Nicolas Jarry will play in the final of the ATP tournament for the sixth time. The Chilean won tournaments in Bastad (2019), Santiago, Geneva (2023), but lost in the final act in São Paulo (2018) and Geneva (2019).
