
Kateryna Zelenykh and Alexandra Angel won new medals for Romania at the European Youth Wrestling Championship in Bucharest.

In her first appearance for Romania, Zelenykh won silver in the category up to 65 kg.
The athlete of Ukrainian origin was defeated in the final by Iryna Kolyadenko (Ukraine), defeating Taibe Iusein (Bulgaria/preliminary round), Kadriye Aksoy (Turkey/quarter) and Iryna Ringachi (R. Moldova/semifinal).
- Kolyadenko wins the second title of European champion in a row. The Ukrainian became the bronze medalist of the 2023 WC.
- Zelenykh (23 years old) has silver at the U23 World Championship (2021) and bronze (2022), both for Ukraine.
Also on Friday, Angel climbed to the second step of the podium in the 72 kg category after defeating Nesrin Bash from Turkey in the final.
At the competition, the Romanian defeated Yuliana Vasileva Yaneva (Bulgaria/preliminary round), Ilana Kratysh (Israel/quarter) and Anastasia Alpieva (Ukraine/semifinal).
- Bash is a two-time U23 World Champion and full European U23 Champion.
Romania also won a gold medal at the European Wrestling Championships in Andrea Beatrice Ana (55 kg) and two bronzes in Greco-Roman wrestling: Mihai Denis (55 kg) and Rezvan Arnaut (60 kg).
