Polish special services reported on Thursday about the detention of a citizen of Ukraine who worked for Russian special services, AFP notes.
“Acting as part of an organized criminal group at the behest of the Russian special services,” the man is accused of “preparing subversive and subversive actions,” the report says.
According to the authorities in Warsaw, the man arrested on January 31 “was preparing to set fire to several buildings in the city of Wroclaw (in the southwest), near some strategically important infrastructure elements.”
He faces up to 12 years in prison. Polish services did not specify his age.
Last year, 16 foreign citizens from countries located “beyond the eastern borders” were accused in Poland of espionage, preparation of sabotage and gathering information for the benefit of Russia, especially regarding the transit of weapons to Ukraine.
Being a loyal ally of Kyiv, Poland is also one of the main countries for the transfer of western weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. (Agerpress)
