A 38-year-old German citizen arrived in St. Petersburg from Istanbul. During the inspection of the luggage, customs officials allegedly found a package of “Fink Green Goldbears” candies with the image of a hemp leaf.

The chewing gum allegedly had a pungent smell, customs officers reported.

The tests confirmed the presence of tetrahydrocannabinol, a cannabinoid banned in Russia. “The passenger explained that at the end of last year, he bought 10 packs of chewing gum with marijuana in one of the specialized stores of the country of origin,” the customs said.

“The man traveled around the world several times with such “sweets” and used them during long flights “for a restful sleep.”

Customs also released a photo of a German passport, six rubber bands and a pack of Fink Green Goldbears. Criminal proceedings were also opened against the German for drug smuggling. The maximum punishment in such cases is seven years.
