A 15-year-old student who used a tear gas canister at the Dimitrie Leonidas Technical College in Bucharest has been placed under judicial supervision for 60 days after a criminal case was filed against the boy, the capital’s police said Tuesday evening, Agerpres reports.
Due to the fact of violation of public peace and order, unauthorized carrying or use of dangerous objects, hitting or other violent actions against the student, the police filed a criminal proceeding ex officio.
“The investigation is being continued by the police of the school’s security service under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office at the 2nd district court,” the press service of the State Security Service of the Ministry of Education and Culture reported.
On Tuesday, emergency teams assessed 33 students at the Dimitrii Leonid Technical College and transported 25 of them to the hospital after a 15-year-old used paralyzing spray both at the entrance and inside the building. Several students complained of feeling unwell.
According to some judicial sources, the incident may have occurred after a conflict between a student and a colleague.
The student’s father claims his son was the victim of bullying and used the spray to defend himself when he was allegedly attacked by 20 fellow students.
The director of the school called 112 to inform the police of the 9th section that the student had sprayed tear gas with an irritating effect both on the street and at the entrance to the school.
