Two versions for China
In the turbulent vicissitudes of the Chinese auto industry, Volkswagen is preparing to unveil its latest gem, the ID.7 S, a version that promises a big surprise. Spotted by a government regulatory body, this ID.7 variant not only shines with its elegance, but also with dimensions that elevate it above the European version (also available in China).
Indeed, in the vast panorama of the Chinese market, Volkswagen exerts its influence through two strategic partnerships, one with SAIC and the other with FAW. Adding an additional layer of complexity to this ecosystem, Volkswagen Anhui, 75% owned by VW and 25% by JAC, is zealously dedicated to the research, development and production of new energy vehicles.
Some aesthetic changes
The ID.7 S, developed by SAIC, stands out from its sibling and seduces with its originality, with a renewed hood, screen and headlights. There are also noticeable changes in the rear, in particular on the tailgate, bumper and lights.
It is important to note that although this version is more impressive, it retains the same 2,966 mm wheelbase.
The significant increase in length (5026mm vs. 4961mm) results in more generous overhangs front and rear. The width remained practically unchanged, 1864 mm against 1862 mm, with a slightly reduced height of 1537 mm against 1538 mm.
At the mechanical level, no revolution is visible. 150kW rear-wheel drive or 230kW all-wheel drive options will remain available, along with an 84.8kWh battery that provides a range of 642km on the CLTC cycle.
The question that remains unanswered is whether this expansion of the ID.7 in China will open up new prospects in the Chinese car market? This has yet to be confirmed.
