Actress Margot Robbie reacted to the fact that she and director Greta Gerwig were excluded from the lists of nominees in the two main categories of the Oscars, PA Media and DPA agencies reported on Thursday, cited by Agerpres.
“You can’t be sad when you know you’re so blessed,” the 33-year-old Australian star said after missing out on a best actress nomination, but defended her Gerwig, who was snubbed for best director. .
“Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated for director,” Robbie said at a roundtable organized by the SAG-AFTRA union. “What she has achieved happens only once in her career, only once in her life. He really achieved something. But it’s been an incredible year for all the movies.”
“We set out to do something that would change the culture, influence the culture, make an impact, and we’ve already achieved some of that, even more than we ever dreamed of (…) It’s really the greatest reward that can happen to come out of all of this.”
Chin broke a number of impressive records at the global box office last year, securing director Greta Gerwig’s place in Hollywood history. Thanks to the huge success of Barbie, she became the first female director whose film crossed the billion dollar mark at the box office.
Margot Robbie was one of the executive producers of the movie “Barbie”, which received 8 Oscar nominations
Margot Robbie also said she was “beyond ecstatic” to receive eight Oscar nominations, including Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera, who plays Gloria, and Best Supporting Actor, for Ryan Gosling, who played by Ken.
