“I am grateful to General Valery Zaluzhny for his service to Ukraine and his dedication to the defense of our people. Thanks to him, Ukrainians really trust our Armed Forces, which currently have the highest level of public trust,” he said.

He said he was “confident” the popular army chief would “handle this challenge with grace”.

“I hope that the authorities will provide the public with an explanation for such changes,” he said.

“Especially in the conditions of heavy fighting on the front lines and the need to maintain effective cooperation with foreign partners, the unity of our society depends on a government that can be trusted,” the mayor of Kyiv added.
