The petition of Vlad Pasku, the author of the accident on May 2, to replace the preventive arrest with house arrest was rejected by the court of Mangalia, but the decision of the magistrates is not final, writes News.ro.

On Friday, the court of Mangalia considered Vlad Pasku’s request to replace the preventive measure.

“Rejects the petition of the defendant Pasku Matei Vlad to replace the preventive measure with house arrest as unfounded,” the court minutes say, among other things.

The court’s decision is not final and can be appealed within 48 hours.

On August 19, 2023, Vlad Pascu was driving a car along DN 39 and at around 5:25 a.m., around May 2, he drove into a group of pedestrians. As a result of the impact, two young people died, three more were injured.

Vlad Pascu fled the scene of the accident and was later found by the police in Vama Veke. Investigators determined that he was under the influence of several prohibited substances, including cocaine, amphetamine and methamphetamine.

In September, Vlad Paska was sued for intentional homicide, intentional infliction of bodily harm, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving a vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances. The case was transferred to the Mangalia court.

Also, in another matter, Vlad Pasku was sent to court by DIICOT prosecutors together with his parents for illegal drug trafficking, for inducing a person to give false testimony or not to provide evidence, as well as for providing an apartment for drug use. This case will be heard in the Bucharest Court.
