Jacqueline Christian defeated Clara Toson in the 1/8 finals of the Transylvania Open

Jacqueline Christian advanced to the quarterfinals of the Transylvania Open.

The player, who is ranked 81 in the WTA hierarchy, defeated Clara Toson (80 WTA) with a score of 6-4, 6-0 after a match that lasted an hour and 20 minutes.

In the quarters, the Romanian will meet Anastasia Sevastova (656 WTA), who was defeated by Elina Avanesyan’s refusal.

Transylvania Open will be held from February 5 to 11 in Cluj-Napoca. The tournament is held on closed hard, is part of the WTA 250 category and has a total prize pool of $267,082.

The competition was held three more times: 2021 (Anette Kontaveit won, score 6-2, 6-3, after the final with Simona Halep), 2022 (Anna Blinkova won, score 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, with Jasmine Paoloni ) and 2023 (Tamara Korpatch lifted the trophy after 6-3, 6-4 with Gabriela Ruse).
