A 72-year-old man from Sibiu county was found by the police after he was driving in the opposite direction on the A1 Râmnicu Vâlcea-Deva highway. His license has already been suspended, and now he faces a fine and a criminal record.

According to IPJ Sibiu, police officers from the police department of the A1 Râmnicu Vâlcea – Deva highway have identified and located the driver who was caught on Monday morning while driving on the A1, at the 245 km section, in the opposite direction.

“This is a 72-year-old man who lives in Shura Mike. As a result of the checks carried out by the police, it was established that the man is deprived of the right to drive vehicles on public roads. Thus, police brigades of the traffic police have opened criminal proceedings against the driver for committing an offense provided for in part 2 of Article 335 of the Criminal Code,” the source said.

The man was also fined 1485 lei and deprived of the right to drive vehicles on public roads for 120 days.

The measure in the form of suspension will be applied after the final disclosure of the criminal proceedings.
