Ranked 26th in the WTA rankings, Sorana defeated Maria Sakkari (9th WTA) in straight sets at the end of the match, which lasted one hour and 16 minutes.

In the quarters, Sorana will face Daria Kasatkina (14 WTA), who advanced to this phase of the competition thanks to a straight set success against Ashlina Kruger (82 WTA), score 6-3, 7-5.
For qualifying in the quarters, Sorana will receive a check for $24,910 and 108 points in the WTA singles ranking.
The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open takes place from February 5 to 11 on hard, is part of the WTA 500 category, has a total prize pool of $922,573, and the title champion is Belinda Bencic (2023).
