“We’re here to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin,” the Conservative star said in a video posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Tucker Carlson is a star anchor in the USA, recently fired from the Fox News channel, which is very popular among conservatives. He has since presented the show, which is rerun on X.

The host of Tucker Carlson Tonight between 2016 and 2023, the 50-year-old became one of the most influential voices in conservative America, accused of promoting conspiracy and racist theories.

The journalist is also known to be very close to Donald Trump, the former Republican president who is well positioned to challenge Joe Biden in the US presidential election in November.

When exactly the interview with Vladimir Putin will take place, the presenter did not specify, as well as when it will be broadcast. “We’ll do it soon,” he said simply.

There have been rumors about the possibility of conducting this interview, and several Telegram channels have reported in recent days that Tucker Carlson will be in the Russian capital, Moscow.

“Our Duty”

In his four-minute video, the host described in detail all the reasons that made him request this interview.

“That’s why we do it,” he said. “First of all, because this is our job, we are engaged in journalism, our duty is to inform people.”

“Most Americans are not informed, they have no idea what is happening in the region, here in Russia or 950 km away in Ukraine. But they should know, because they pay a significant part of the sums,” he added.

Carlson has repeatedly criticized American support for Ukraine

In recent months, Tucker Carlson has repeatedly criticized American support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.

This support is also the subject of heated debate in the US Congress, where Republicans close to Donald Trump are refusing to unlock new funds for Kyiv, as President Biden and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyi insist.

Reiterating his hostile rhetoric against the mainstream media, which many on the right hate, he said people in English-speaking countries are ill-informed about the war in Ukraine and its aftermath.

“They think nothing has really changed. And they believe this because no one told them the truth. Their media is corrupt,” he said.

In particular, he criticized the American media’s interviews with President Zelensky, calling them “flattering.” He added that he asked Zelensky for an interview.

Tucker Carlson also talked about some of the arrangements for the interview, saying, among other things, that he paid for his own travel.

“Obviously, conducting such an interview is associated with risk. So we thought about it carefully for several months,” he said.

“We are not here because we like Vladimir Putin. We are here because we love the United States. We want it to remain prosperous and free,” he concluded.
