In the final match of the day in Cluj-Napoca, two-time Grand Slam finalist Karolina Pliskova advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Austria’s Signa Kraus 6-4, 7-6(6).

World No. 1 in July 2017 and finalist at US Open 2016 and Wimbledon 2021, Karolina Pliskova defeated Sina Kraus in straight sets.

Ranked 78th in the WTA rankings, the player from the Czech Republic received a fitting response from the 21-year-old.

After the first set was won 6-4, the second set was tied to a tie-break. Even though she was up 3-0, Carolina’s experience spoke for itself and she advanced to the next round after going 8-6.

In the 1/8 finals, Karolina Pliskova will meet the Colombian Camila Osorio (101 WTA).
