
A former music teacher from the Nagy Mozes Theoretical High School in Tirgu-Secuescu, who was also a choir director, was sent to court on charges of rape and sexual intercourse with a minor. His victims were 13 and 14 years old, respectively, and the actions were allegedly committed in 2018.
The man was initially arrested in November 2021 and remanded in custody until November 27, 2021, after which judges placed him under house arrest until December 26, 2022.
Later, by the decision of the judges of the Kovasna court, the man was released.
The man was fired from the high school where he taught after the school’s disciplinary committee found the allegations to be valid and the authorities were notified.
The former teacher abused his official position
A man has been sent to court after he allegedly had multiple sexual relationships with one of his 14-year-old pupils, as well as a 13-year-old girl who was a member of the choir he directed.
“In essence, it was established that the defendant, as a music teacher and choir leader, during 2019-2020 abused his recognized official position in relation to the minor victim, who was 14 years old at the time of the act, his student, repeatedly engaged in sexual acts with her, namely : during 2018, engaged in sexual intercourse with another minor victim, who was 13 years old at the time of the act, a member of a choir led by the defendant, taking advantage of the victim’s inability to express her will and abusing her recognized position of trust and power over her,” it says in the statement of the prosecutor’s office at the Sfantu Gheorghe court, quoted by CovasnaMedia.ro.
