In order to provide the necessary equipment and logistical support to officials, prosecutors, and especially officers involved in the fight against drugs, the legislative initiative proposes, within three years from 2025 to 2028, to direct the funds received from the confiscation of confiscated items and money equally and exclusively for units specializing in preventing and combating drug trafficking and illegal drug consumption within the General Inspectorate of the Police, the General Inspectorate of the Border Police and the Main Directorate of Customs.

The initiative provides that movable assets should be evaluated by sending them free of charge to the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police or the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism at their request for use in activities to prevent and fight organized crime. .

It is also about movable things, the individual value of which exceeds the equivalent in lei of 15,000 euros, as well as stocks of goods or products, the aggregate value of which exceeds the equivalent in lei of 300,000 euros.

Currently, property seized by officers and police officers during anti-drug and serious crime operations is managed by the National Seized Assets Agency and transferred to the state budget.

The bill has been submitted to the Senate, signed by PNL Senator Alexandru Nazaré and Interior Minister Catalin Preda, and is due to enter an emergency debate. The Chamber of Deputies is the decision-making forum in this case.
