Replay operator from FCSB – Farul suspended indefinitely
There were refereeing problems in the match between FCSB and champion Farul.
Horatio Fesnich’s side failed to show convincing progress and Luis Munteanu’s goal was disallowed for Farului after VAR was consulted for offside by Constanța’s top team. For 7 minutes in the VAR room, lines were drawn and Muntyan’s position was analyzed, after which they concluded that he was offside.
In addition, the visitors asked for two shots from 11 meters after several interventions from Gramen and Louis Muntian. At the same time, Farul equalized in extra time after a controversial penalty awarded following a duel between Nedelku and Dava.
The VAR technology provider self-reported the breach and issued a statement announcing that the replay operator for this match would be suspended indefinitely.
“In the FCSB – Farul Konstanz match at the 24th stage, there was a situation of analysis of a possible offside situation, which was incorrectly resolved by the replay operator, this fact led to the cancellation of the goal scored by the visiting team.
The replay operator did not accurately follow the procedure for drawing the lines associated with the attacking player, which led to a distortion of the distances between the players involved in the analysis of the probable offside phase.
The replay operator incorrectly used a procedure called triangulation, which is used when a player has one part of his body in the air, and therefore the result of the analysis was incorrect.
It should be noted that the analysis took longer than usual to accurately determine the moment the ball was hit, the process depended on the timing of the cameras, and also because the analysis process was repeated three times, each time with the same false result.
For an error in the match, the replay operator was sanctioned and detained from the delegations for an indefinite period.” – says the press release published on the FRF website.
