​Diana Schneider won the 2024 “WTA 250” tournament in Hua Hin (Thailand), in the final the athlete from Russia beat Lin Zhu (second favorite and current champion).

At the age of 19, Schneider started the competition from the 108th place in the world ranking. The Russian took two hours to defeat China’s Zhu (45 WTA), 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.
During the competition in Hua Hin, Schneider also defeated Magda Lynette (56 WTA, top favorite), Paula Badosa (83 WTA), Dalma Galfi (137 WTA) and Xinya Wang (40 WTA, favorite 3).
This is the first WTA title in the career of Diana, who also played in the final (Ningbo 2023).
Thanks to the success in Thailand, Schneider will record a jump of 35 points and will be in 73rd place in the new WTA ranking.
The Open Championship of Thailand was held from January 29 to February 4 on hard. It offered a total of $267,082 in prize money, was part of the WTA 250 category, and the reigning champion was Lin Zhu. In 2019, Iryna Begu and Monica Niculescu won in doubles.
