Residents who came to Broskeucsi Town Hall in Botosani County on Thursday to address their concerns were surprised to find that the gates were closed during the program. Employees went to Dorohoi to celebrate the secretary of the commune, Monitorul de Botoșani reports. When asked by journalists, the mayor explained that “I am in place.”

State officials closed the town hall on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. and went to a restaurant on Dorohomo, where a party was scheduled in honor of the secretary.

The inhabitants of the commune did not know that the program had been “modified”.

“Knowing that you, like in any public institution, have a schedule until 4 p.m., I said to submit these petitions. Unfortunately, the gates of the facility are closed,” Virgil Bordei told Monitorul de Botoșani.

When asked by reporters why the town hall was closed during the program, Mayor Kostel Ageorgioai (PSD) said workers were “on the ground”.

“I came out. Tomorrow morning. Not today. We have some problems with gas expansion on the spot,” said the mayor.

Journalists of the local edition visited the restaurant on Dorohomo Street, where they captured on a hidden camera a secret feast attended by more than 15 people, including the mayor’s team: the mayor, deputy mayor, accountant and secretary.

Some civil servants returned to work half an hour before the end of the program at the town hall, after the press started asking questions.

The mayor’s cashier claimed that she went to the treasury, while the vice-mayor Nicolae Zamostianu stated that she was in Dorohomo with the cashier to deposit money in the treasury.
