​Meteorologists forecast cloudy weather, rain, sleet and snow in places over the weekend. However, tropical air will bring spring-like temperatures to Romania early next week.

Meteorologist Mihai Timu said on Digi24 on Friday that a cold air front will bring a slight cooling to the weather this weekend.

  • “The weather will be cloudy, especially in the Inner Carpathian regions, where there will be precipitation. There will be snow in Maramures and Transylvania, rain with sleet in Banat and Krishan. Snow in the mountains will not be quantitative.
  • Warming awaits us, on Sunday it will exceed ten degrees across the country.
  • The first part of the week will bring much warmer weather than usual, we are talking about tropical air that will migrate to the southeast of Europe, including over our country. Early next week will see spring-like temperatures across the country. At night, the temperature will range from 0 to 7 degrees Celsius,” said the meteorologist.

Forecast for February

The National Weather Service released its forecast for February on Friday, calling for above-normal temperatures for the period between February 5 and 19, as well as precipitation for the second half of the month.

Week of February 5-12

  • Throughout the territory of Romania, the temperature indicators will be higher than the specific ones this week, but with a more pronounced positive temperature deviation in the non-Carpathian regions.
  • The precipitation regime will be excessive in the region of the Apuseni Mountains and in the northern half of the Eastern Carpathians, as well as in the northwestern regions, deficient in the southern and southeastern regions, and generally close to normal in the rest.

Week of February 12-19

  • Average temperatures will be above normal for this period across the country, but particularly in the south-east.
  • The amount of precipitation will be excessive in all regions, but especially in the west of the Southern Carpathians and in the Banat Mountains.

Week of February 19-26

  • The average air temperature in Transcarpathia will be somewhat lower than that typical for this period, and in the rest of the country, average temperatures will be close to normal.
  • The precipitation regime will be slightly increased in most of the country, but especially in the southeastern edge of the territory.

Week from February 26 to March 4

  • Average heat values ​​will be close to specific this week across Romania.
  • The amount of precipitation in general in all regions will be close to normal for this period.
