For his part, the British pilot wanted to justify his decision.
“I have spent 11 extraordinary years with this team and I am proud of what we have achieved together. Mercedes has been a part of my life since I was 13 years old.
This is where I grew up, so making the decision to leave was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make.
But the time is right for me to take this step and I’m excited to take on the new challenge.
I am 100% committed to doing my best this season and making my last year at Mercedes a memorable one.” – said Lewis Hamilton.
Shortly after, Scuderia Ferrari officially responded on social media, confirming the agreement with Hamilton.
“Scuderia Ferrari is delighted to announce that Lewis Hamilton will join the team in 2025 on a multi-year contract.”
