The organizers of the Transylvania Open announced on Thursday that Gabriela Ruse (146 WTA) will not be able to participate in this year’s tournament due to an injury received before the Australian Open.
Miriam Bulgaru instead of Gabriela Ruse at the Transylvania Open
The player who reached the final of the tournament in Cluj-Napoca in 2023 and kept the audience in awe of every match, will still come to the tournament to meet her fans.
On Sunday, those who wish to see her will be able to meet her at the BTarena at a time to be announced later on the Transylvania Open’s official communication channels.
With this change, Miriam Bulgarou will enter the main draw of the Transylvania Open, while Sara Maria Popa will take Bulgarou’s place in the qualifiers.
If a player in the top 30 does not request the fourth wild card, it will go to Andrea Mitu, who will thus enter the main draw.
“We are sorry that we no longer have Gabriela Ruse in the main draw of this tournament. Gabi is loved by the public.
Last year we experienced incredible matches with her, full of emotions, and we couldn’t wait to see her again.
But she will still be with us and until we see her on the court again, we wish her a speedy recovery,” said Patrick Chorsila, director of the Transylvania Open WTA 250, News.ro reported.
Three players from Romania entered the main draw of Transylvania Open WTA 250: Ana Bohdan (66 WTA), Jacqueline Christian (84 WTA) and Miriam Bulgaru (192 WTA).
